Warm Rooms
We have setup Buckley Warm Rooms, above the old swimming baths every Tuesday 9.30am -12. Here there is free tea and coffee, biscuits, soups, books, games and lots of conversations.
There are other warm rooms available in Buckley going on;
- Buckley Library – open Mon – Sat
- Buckley Cross Community Centre – Several days for varied events
‘Claim what’s yours’ helpline
Advicelink Cymru is a Welsh Government funded Citizens Advice service designed to help people who are most in need of advice services, particularly those who would not usually seek advice.
In 2020, Advicelink Cymru helped almost 62,000 people with over 264,000 problems. In total, more than 9 in 10 clients reported that the service helped them find a way forward and more than 9 in 10 would recommend the service to other people.
Advicelink Cymru offers quality assured advice on welfare benefits, debt, employment, education, housing, immigration and discrimination. The service aims to help people access the right advice, at the right time and make it easier for them to access services again if they need further help—whether that’s about the same issue or something new.
People in Wales can access the service Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm through our Advicelink Cymru number: 0800 702 2020.

Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI)
If you’re a homeowner, you might be able to get help towards interest payments on your mortgage or loans you’ve taken out for certain repairs and improvements to your home.
Warm Home Discount Scheme
You could get £140 off your electricity bill for winter 2021 to 2022 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. The discount will not affect your Cold Weather Payment or Winter Fuel Payment.
Watersure Tariff
Available to qualifying customers who already have a water meter, or opt in to have a water meter fitted.

Disabled Facilities Grant
Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) is a type of financial assistance used to help with adapting the home.
Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF)
The Discretionary Assistance Fund provides 2 types of grant that you do not need to pay back.
- Emergency Assistance Payment (EAP)
- Individual Assistance Payment (IAP)
Cold Weather Payment
You may get a Cold Weather Payment if you’re getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest. You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.
Discretionary Housing Payment
If you are responsible for paying rent in Flintshire and you are on a low income, you may be able to get help with some or all of your rent.
Benefits
Universal Credit
Universal Credit provides financial support for low-income households and it replaces the following benefits; Housing Benefit, Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
PIP can help with extra living costs if you have both:a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability and difficulty doing certain everyday tasks or getting around because of your condition.
Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
You can apply for New Style Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) to help you when you’re looking for work.
Free School Meals (eFSM) and Uniform Grants
Some families who meet certain criteria, for example those on lower incomes or in receipt of certain benefits, are entitled to receive a free school meal (eFSM).
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
You can apply for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) if you have a disability or health condition that affects how much you can work.
Pension Credit
Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over State Pension age and on a low income. Pension Credit can also help with housing costs such as ground rent or service charges.
Council Tax Reduction
If you are responsible for paying Council Tax in Flintshire and you are on a low income, you may be able to get help with some or all of your Council Tax bill.
Attendance Allowance
Attendance Allowance helps with extra costs if you have a disability severe enough that you need someone to help look after you.

Buckley Bursary Scheme
Buckley Town Council has introduced a bursary scheme to provide financial assistance to individuals towards their tuition fees charged by Universities and / or Colleges of Higher Education.
Car Repairs – Payment Assist

Our foodbank works using a voucher referral system. In order to get help from our foodbank, you will need a voucher issued by local agencies.

A partnership between Flintshire County Council, Clwyd Alyn Housing Association and Can Cook with an aim to ‘feed-everyone-well’ regardless of income.

Dogs Trust – Help with free vet care homelessness
If you are experiencing homelessness. Being at risk of homelessness could include if you have received an eviction notice or are being supported by your local authority under the 56 days prevention duty.
Blue Cross – Veterinary Care Fund
Our fund can provide up to £300 (inclusive of VAT) towards treatment costs if you do not have the financial means to fund treatment
Deeside Pet Food Bank
A foodbank in Ewloe providing pet food for Flintshire pet owners who are struggling to manage costs.
Virtual Dog School
A lot of issues and costs are attributed to poor behavioural training. Dogs trust offer discounts virtual training classes.
PDSA VetCare
The PDSA have a useful tool to see if you’re eligible for funding for any veterinary care.
Neuter/Spay you Cat
Support exists to spay or neuter your cat for only £5, this will protect the health of your cat and not add any unnecessary costs at a later date.
Non Profit Vets
Wrexham has a unique vet practice that does not strip corporate profits onto your pricing.
RSPCA Mobile Clinic
The Mobile Veterinary Clinic is funded by five RSPCA branches operating across North Wales, providing subsidised veterinary treatment to low income pet owners.

Children and Schools
Buckley Financial Assistance
The Town Council, on an annual basis, makes grants, donations and financial contributions towards a number of activities and organisations within the town to promote and assist the enjoyment of the town by its population and visitors. The Town Council considers applications from charitable and other social/sporting organisations within the town at a meeting of its Finance Sub Committee (Grants). Please note the Town Council is unable to fund individuals in relation to grants and donations except where the application falls under the Bursary Scheme. The Town Council also supports organisations outside the town where appropriate.
Tax-Free Childcare
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is reminding families to not miss out on up to £2,000 a year towards their child’s wraparound care.
Real Nappy Scheme
If you live in Denbighshire or Flintshire and your child is aged between 0 and 18 months old, you may be entitled to vouchers worth up to £75 to be used in part-payment for either the purchase of real nappies or a Real Nappy Laundry Service.
Flintshire Childcare Offer for 3 to 4 year olds (30 hours)
The Childcare Offer provides 30 hours of government funded Early Education and childcare to the working parents of 3 to 4 year olds across Wales for 48 weeks per year.
Education Maintenance Allowance
You may be eligible to receive a £30 weekly EMA award if: you are above the compulsory school age, you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 years old on or before the 31 August, you normally live in Wales and you are studying an eligible full-time academic or vocational course.
