We’re very pleased to hear of the benefits Buckley will be receiving after Cllr Rose requested that a Grant application should be applied for to repair our heating.
At the prior October meeting our Clerk confirmed the heating in the offices and connected rooms had not been working since early summer, yet no applications of support had been put in. Large proposals for the cost of replacing such a system were provided. Cllr Rose made clear that we must be doing all we can to make sure costs, wherever possible, do not fall on the people of Buckley.
Dan got our clerk in touch with the correct Flintshire Council Officers who have been a great help, working swiftly to get applications in to cover not only our Town Council building heating but also guttering and replacement of a needed door.
The work was due to cost us £17,951 but Flintshire have managed to secure 70% of the funds by grant. This means £12,565.93 will be provided to us and save Buckley tax payers from the use of our reserves and future cost to restore the reserves.
Dan says he really would like our new clerk to be proactive in looking at other revenue streams for the council, to hopefully look to cover a higher percentage of its work and reduce its council tax burden for residents.
