Some of the many issues we’ve seen blocking and holding up busses on a key route

Here in Buckley, we’re fortunate to have a fantastic public transport network, with both reliable bus services and our convenient railway station. But let’s face it, our network hasn’t been immune to challenges in recent years.

With rising costs putting pressure on bus operators, the worry that central Buckley might be cut off from the network was becoming increasingly real. Thankfully, Unite the Union stepped in to ensure this wouldn’t happen. With help from Carolyn Thomas MS who immediately got Flintshire Council on the case. A meeting, called late last year, to see what urgent solutions could come forward to stop the issues with the parking on the Cross.

As of today, changes have been implemented to safeguard our vital bus routes. One of the biggest issues causing delays was inconsiderate parking at the Cross. To address this, Flintshire proposed several changes while Cllr Rose, requested that Flintshire Council officers directly consult with all businesses in the area before finalising any changes. This proved to be a successful approach, resulting in positive adjustments that support both businesses on Mold Road and the smooth operation of the bus routes.

The changes implemented today are a positive step forward in securing Buckley’s bus network. By working together, the council, unions, and local businesses have ensured that everyone in our community continues to have access to this vital service.

If you have any questions or comments about the recent changes to Buckley’s bus routes, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Cllr Dan Rose.
